I built something free for DaVinci Resolve users

Hi Friends,

I've been busy creating something I call - Sort Media Pool. It's a game changer and I'm giving it to all of you for free.

I used to waste 10–20 minutes at the start of every project just sorting footage. Canon R5 clips here, Sony FX3 there, timelines, compound clips, audio files somewhere else. Every single time. Client videos, personal projects, multi-camera shoots — didn't matter. The setup was always the same mindless grind.

The work isn't hard. It's just friction. And it killed my momentum before I could touch a creative decision.

So I built a DaVinci Resolve script that does it for you. Import your media, run the script, it's done. The tool reads your footage metadata and builds bins automatically — no manual sorting, no touching clips.

Here's what it supports: Canon, Sony, Blackmagic, Leica, GoPro, ARRI, RED, Nikon, Panasonic, most Android and iPhone models. 15+ camera brands. About 2 minutes to install. One click at the start of every project after that.

I've been using it on my own work. The time savings are real — not glamorous or cinematic, just genuinely useful.

If your camera isn't on the list? Reply with a sample clip (2-5 seconds) and I'll add it to the next update. I want this to work for the cameras you actually shoot on. Hit me if you have a suggestion to improve this, this tool will be Free forever.

What's next: I'm building RoughCut, a tool that automatically assembles rough cuts from your script and footage. Early waitlist is open at drrave.com/tools/roughcut.

The best creative tools kill friction before the creative work begins. This one does exactly that.

Keep creating. Keep chasing. ☕
